Couple basic rules: no nudity, no vulgarity (unless you have just burnt yourself then that is understandable) and no bashing. Other than that we are pretty free….. just keep it barbecue related.

• Please make the date of your festival easy to find.  In fact make a graphic if possible and place it in the upper part of your page so that no scrolling or searching needs to be done to see the date.
• When you do your date information, please include the year.  I realize most of these websites are meant of communicating locally but there are a great number of people that seek out bbq events and actually plan trips around these events.  If I see a date but no year then I may be inclined to wonder if the site is current and if I cant find any indication that it is I will just move on.
• Place a link to a location page that shows a map and provides some information on the local area.  This is especially good if you are hoping to attract out of towners to your event.
• Take the music off the site.  It may sound nice to you, but to the average website viewer it is very annoying. There is really no need to have a banjo playing while someone is visiting your website

Speaking of heading out on a trip; We got an email last week from a couple who is using BBQ-Festivals.com as a guide for planning their barbecue summer trip. How cool is that? They are heading out of North Carolina in the June, July time frame to hit some great bbq events and probably do some serious barbecue eating as well.  I have asked them to take some photos and let us know how the trip goes……  if anyone else plans a bbq vacation and uses our website please let us know how it goes.
