About BBQHub

Welcome to BBQHub.com the barbecue blog for BBQ-Festivals.com and GreatBBQRestaurants.com.

A little about me; my name is Eric Dytzel and I live in Madisonville, KY and I love to eat barbecue.  I got turned on to the world of barbecue about 10 years ago and I have to admit I have become addicted to it. Living in Kentucky affords me the opportunity to eat some great barbecue, especially of the pulled pork and mutton variety.  Now I know our neighbors over in North Carolina believe they are the kings of pulled pork but I dare say Kentucky can give them a run for their money…

I enjoy visiting barbecue restaurants and going to competitions although I have to admit I don’t get to go to as many competitions as I would like to do time/work restrictions.  I travel a lot on my regular job so I do get to sample great barbecue from all over the country.  I have been known to hop in the car and make a 10 hour round trip just to eat some good bbq in a single day….  Big Bob Gibson’s in Decatur and Interstate BBQ in Memphis are two of my favorite long distance eating trips.

I have two websites that have come out of this love for barbecue.  These two websites offer a huge listing of bbq events from festivals and competitions to great barbecue joints from coast to coast.  In addition there are listings of grills and smokers, competition teams and much more.

The BBQ festivals and competitions website is located at BBQ-Festivals.com

The BBQ Restaurants site is aptly named GreatBBQRestaurants.com

If you have a bbq event or a bbq restaurant that isn’t listed on these two sites please send me your info and I will certainly ad them. You can reach me at bbqfestivals@gmail.com

BBQHub.com is where you will find the latest info to come from the Festivals and Restaurants world.  Bookmark us and check in often and when you are ready for vacation use our sites to make sure you hit the best bbq spots in the country.

Now… if you are interested in knowing a little more about me outside the world of barbecue….haha, well here you go:  I am a military brat who spent the biggest part of his childhood living in Italy and Germany and throughout the U.S.  I spent a little more than 7 years in the U.S. Navy (not staying for 20 was a huge mistake).  I am 51 and have been married for 19 years and have two wonderful kids. My son is a freshman in high school this year and my daughter is in 5th grade.

I have been working as a graphic designer and website developer for the past 12 years and have a varied portfolio of skills to draw from. Before joining the navy I attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After the navy I went to college and majored in Information Technology so I use both sides of the brain…… may be why I get so easily confused.

I would like to turn my love for barbecue into a full time profession but you know how that goes…… maybe someday I can get a touring bus and spend my days traveling from bbq event to bbq event and stopping at every restaurant in between and writing about them. Anyone want to sponsor me???

So, there you have a brief slice of who I am.  I hope you will find this blog and my two other bbq sites useful and entertaining.  Talk to you soon and email me if you have any questions or comments.

Thanks………….. Eric
